Wen-Min Li
Dermatol Sinica 2: 1-8, 1984

We have studied a group of 15 male Chinese patients who had worked in the dipyridilium herbicide paraquat manufacturing factories for various periods from 1 to 12 years in Taichung, central Taiwan, Republic of China. Their ages were from 29 to 59 year-old. Multiple skin lesions particularly hyperpigmented macules, several millimeters to centimeters in size, were noted on the exposure areas such as face, neck, dorsal aspects of hand and forearm in all 15 patients. Among them, 6 patients also had ..................More

Secondary Localized Cutaneous Amyloidosis Associated with Bowen's Disease- Clinical and Electron Microscopical Studies
Wen-Jen Wang, Chrang-Shi Lin, Chu-Kwan Wong
Dermatol Sinica 2: 9-18, 1984

There were 18 cases of Bowen's disease at our department during the past 12 years. Among them, amyloid deposits could be found in the biopsy of skin lesion in nine cases (50%). The clinical feature of these patients and the severity of pathological changes were not relevant to the existence of amyloid. One case of Bowen's disease associated with amyloid was examined by an electron microscope. Thioflavin-T staining is useful to detect amyloid in the thick epon-embedded sections by a fluorescent ..................More

Pigmented Purpuric Lichenoid Dermatitis-Emphasis on Capillary Alternations and Immunofluorescence Study
Hamm-Ming Sheu, Hsin-Su Yu, Oi-Beng Chan, Tsu-Chieh Shen, Ching-Chun Pan
Dermatol Sinica 2: 19-26, 1984

Clinical, histological, histochemical and immunofluorescence studies in six cases of pig-mented purpuric lichenoid dermatitis are described. The patients range from 13 to 52 years old. Small, red-brown-purple lichenoid papules or coalescent plaques are seen mainly on the legs. Two of the cases are unusual. One has lesions localized to left upper extremity and the other has generalized lesions including four extremities and abdomen. The histopathology was moderate to intense lichenoid infiltrate ..................More

Unilateral Dermatomal Superficial Telangiectasia (Unilateral Nevoid Telangiectasia Syndrome)-Report of Two Cases and Review of the Literature
W. P. Daniel Su, Stephen J. Friedman, John A. Doyle
Dermatol Sinica 2: 27-34, 1984

We describe a 14-year-old white girl who had a 10-year history of unilateral telangiectasia distributed over the left side of her face, nose, and upper neck; this patient also had frequent bleeding from her left nostril. The other patient was a 53-year-old man with telangiectasia over his right arm since birth. In both patients, routine histologic examination of the lesion disclosed increased size and number of capillaries in the upper dermis: Alkaline phosphatase activity was strikingly absent ..................More

Pachydermatocele-Emphasized Its Relationship with von Recklinghausen's Disease
Kan-Tong Fang, Hsin-Su Yu
Dermatol Sinica 2: 35-40, 1984

A 32-year-old female was found to have peduncular skin lesions involving the right lower leg since birth. The histopathologic examination from the skin lesion showed typical figure of neurofibroma with pigmented dendritic cells scattered in the upper dermis. We reported this typical case of pachydermatocele and discussed its relation to von Recklinghausen’s disease. ..................More

Treatment of Lupus Miliaris Disseminatus Faciei by Piroxicam- A Case Report -
Chung-Ping Mak, Ying-Chin Wu, Hsu-Po Yeh, Kuo-Lin In
Dermatol Sinica 2: 41-46, 1984

Lupus miliaris disseminatus faciei is a chronic, asymptomatic, papular eruption involving the central portion of face. Its etiology and pathogenesis are still obscure. As these papules normally resolve spontaneously leaving scars behind, thus active treatment is indicated for cosmetic reasons. We report a case regularly followed up at OPD for over one year. Transient elevation of circulating immune complex was noted initially and after follow up studies, it disclosed that circulating immune comp ..................More

Leser-Trelat Sign Associated with Adenocarcinoma of Stomach-Report of Three Cases
Yue-Zon Kuan, Ming-Jing Chen, Heng-Leong Chan
Dermatol Sinica 2: 47-54, 1984

To our knowledge, these are the first cases of Leser-Tre’lat sign in Taiwan. We report three cases of eruptive seborrheic keratoses, acanthosis nigricans and all with concurrent stomach adenocarcinoma. The clinical features and associated malignancies of Leser-Tre’lat sign are reviewed in detail. The sudden appearance of numerous seborrheic keratoses and concurrent associated malignancy present in our cases further strengthened the diagnostic criteria of this paraneoplastic sign.   Leiomyomatosis Cutis et Uteri
Hshiu-Chin Chen, Shiou-Hwa Jee, Hsu-Po Yeh, Yung-Fa Chao
Dermatol Sinica 2: 55-58, 1984

A 36-year-old Taiwanese female was evaluated because of a history of multiple firm, reddish-brown, papular skin lesions occurring over the extensor part of right lower extremity for 5 years. Some of the old papules gradually enlarged and new lesions continued to form. The larger papules caused pain following minor trauma or pressure and gave rise to spontaneous attacks of throbbing pain too. Biopsy specimens of skin lesion with hematoxylin-eosin and Masson-trichrome stains showed typical leiomyo ..................More

Angiolymphoid Hyperplasia with Eosinophilia - A Case Report and Review of the Literature
Shih-Yueh Chen, Heng-Leong Chan, Yue-Zon Kuan
Dermatol Sinica 2: 59-64, 1984

Angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia is a rare, benign disease, characterized by subcutaneous or dermal nodules with distinctive histopathologic change. We report a 20-year-old man with multiple purpuric papules and nodules around the right ear for half a year. The lesions were mild itching, easy bleeding and rubbery in consistency. Histopathology revealed proliferation of plump endothelial cells with irregular vascular lumen, and dense infiltration of lymphocytes, eosinophils, histiocyte ..................More
