Pilomatricoma Associated with Bulla-like Dermal Change - Report of Five Cases -
Chien-Hsun Chen, Yue-Zon Kuang, Heng-Leong Chan
Dermatol Sinica 12: 201-208, 1994

Pilomatricoma is not an uncommon skin appendage tumor but it is unusual to see bulla-like formation in the overlying dermis. Clinically, this variant of pilomatricoma presents with a skin-colored to reddish protruding nodule with somewhat transparent bulla-like appearance, a hard nodule of pilomatricoma could be palpated underneath. Histopathology reveals fragmentation and marked attenuation of collagen fibers, decreasing number of elastic fibers, dilated lymphatic spaces, increased vascularity ..................More

We report a 67-year-old man who suffered from severely pruritic erythematous plaques and tense vesicles or bullae on trunk and limbs. Diabetes mellitus was also found after admission. Dermatopathological and immunofluorescent studies confirmed the diagnosis of bullous pemphigoid. Because of poor response to the treatment, he was put on a variety of medications, including oral prednisolone, azathioprine, methotrexate, dapsone, tetracycline & niacinamide and cyclosporin. Cyclosporin seemed to be t ..................More
