Kan-Tang Fang, Shoh-Cheng Shih, Chung Hsing Chang, Ji-Chen Ho
Dermatol Sinica 13: 127-134, 1995

This study examined 10 cases of tinea pedis to assess the dermato-physiological, immunological and pathological status of lesion sites as compared to 10 normal control subjects. There was no significant change in involucrin, filaggrin or number of stratum corneum cell layers. A possible mechanism for these changes is that profuse sweat gland secretions predispose to alkalinization of skin which promotes fungal growth, and the decrease of sebum and amino acid of stratum corneum may attribute to t ..................More

Pa-Fan Hsiao, Hsiu-Chin Chen, Hsin-Yi Su, Jeng-Jer Chen
Dermatol Sinica 13: 145-151, 1995

We described a 39-year-old male presented with numerous asymptomatic papules on his left neck. These papules developed about 20 years ago and gradually increased in number. As the patient stated, no member of his family showed similar skin lesoions. Histopathological examination revealed several dilated hair follicles, each was surrounded by a well-circumscribed mantle of loose connective tissue. Extending outward from the follicular infundibulum into the fibrous stroma were epithelial strands u ..................More

Dermatol Sinica 13: 153-159, 1995

We demonstrated a 67-year-old Chinese male with a sloitary, asymptomatic, ovoid and erythematous firm nodule over left upper chest wall for about 10 years. Histology revealed a well-demarcated, non-encapsulated dermal nodule composed of hypocellular, thick collagen bundles with prominent clefts. Based on the unique histopathological findings and clinical characteristics, the diagnosis of solitary sclerotic fibroma was confirmed. In addition to the case report, published literatures were reviewe ..................More

Conidia were stained deep-red with Periodic acid-Schiff stain within the granulomatous tissue. A part of the biopsy specimen ..................More

Dermatol Sinica 13: 177-185, 1995

A 29-year-old female noticed a deep purpuric papule on the inner side of her forearm since her childhood. An ecchymotic ring developd around the papule recently. A biopsy specimen from the central papule showed features consistent with targetoid hemosiderotic hemagioma. Targetoid hemosiderotic hemangioma is a rare benign vascular disorder. To the best of our knowledge, only 11 cases have been reported. It can be confused with early patch stage Kaposi's sarcoma and should be differentiated. We re ..................More
