Case 1 was a 62 years old healthy male who had herpes zoster over different dermatomes of opposite side, right T11 and left T5-6. Case 2 was a well developed 31/2 years old boy who was admitted to our hospital due to diffuse varicella combined with herpes zoster over left T10 dermatome simultaneously. The above two patients were treated either with oral or intravenous anti-viral acyclovir with good response. No residual ..................More

Papuloerythroderma of Ofuji-Report of Two Cases-
Tsu-Liang Chen, Hsien-Ching Chiu
Dermatol Sinica 18: 291-297, 2000

Papuloerythroderma of Ofuji (PEO) is a rare inflammatory dermatosis with characteristic clinical features including numerous itching confluent papules, sparing of major body folds (the deck-chair sign), and peripheral blood eosinophilia in many patients. It may sometimes be associated with an internal malignancy. We report two old male patients with typical skin rashes of PEO which were transiently controlled with oral antihistamines and topical corticosteroids with and without combining UVB pho ..................More

Lichen Striatus with Onychodystrophy - A Case Report -
Wen-Wei Feng, Ji-Chen Ho
Dermatol Sinica 18: 298-304, 2000

We herein present a 16-year-old boy who had multiple mildly itchy, erythematous papules with confluence in a linear arrangement on his left thumb for 6 months. Preceding longitudinal ridges and splitting of the left thumbnail were also noted on the ipsilateral side of skin lesions 6 months earlier. Biopsy of the thumb skin lesions revealed a band-like lymphohistiocytic infiltrate in papillary dermis and perivascular and periappendage inflammatory infiltrate in the dermis. No growth of fungus was ..................More

  Rupioid Psoriasis with Arthropathy
Yu-Lin Chang, Tzu-Ling Hsu, Ming-Tuo Chuan, Yih-Yiing Wu
Dermatol Sinica 18: 305-310, 2000

We report a rare case of rupioid psoriasis associated with arthropathy. A 35-year-old male had suffered from severe left knee arthritis for 3 months and had limpet-like, cone-shaped rupioid skin lesions on the trunk and lower extremities for 2 months. Histopathology examination revealed prominent parakeratosis, Munro' s and Kogoj microabscesses in the hyperplastic epidermis, moderate inflammatory cell infiltration and dilated capillaries in the markedly edematous papillary dermis. The skin lesio ..................More

Prurigo Pigmentosa-A Report of Four Cases-
Chia-Jung Hsiao, J. Yu-Yun Lee, Hamm-Ming Sheu
Dermatol Sinica 18: 311-315, 2000

Prurigo pigmentosa (PP) is an uncommon skin disease characterized by a pruritic reticulated erythematous papular eruption that leaves a mottled hyperpigmentation after resolution. To date, only 2 cases were reported from Taiwan. In this report, we describe four cases of PP with typical clinical features and dramatic therapeutic response to minocycline. Histopathologically, characteristic findings of PP, namely vacuolar alteration of the basal cells, spongiosis, necrosis of keratinocytes, exocyto ..................More
