Excessive hair has been a common cosmetic concern for both males and females for centuries. Axillary hair is especially unsightly for women in certain cultures during the summer time. The use of long-pulsed Alexandrite laser in hair removal has been reported in the literature1,2,3. In this study, we compared the efficacy and safety in hair removal by long-pulsed Alexadrite laser and Nd:YAG laser. We recruited 8 female patients and each one underwent Alexandrite laser therapy on the rig ..................More

Dermatol Sinica 23:81-85,2005

Molluscum contagiosum is a common disease encountered by dermatologist. However, there are some atypical presentations rarely encountered in daily practice and thus a correct impression difficult to make. We proposed the first case reported in Taiwan, a 31 year-old female, with the atypical presentation of a 1.5X1.5 cm solitary nodule with underlying erythematous base at left medial thigh, which pathologically proved to be a giant molluscum contagiosum with molluscum dermatitis. We made a brief ..................More

Dermatol Sinica 23:86-90,2005

ABSTRACT Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory scaling skin disorder affecting approximately 0.1~3.0% population. Nail and joint involvement are not uncommon in psoriatic patients. However, psoriatic onychopathy with an underlying bony/periosteal involvement in the distal phalanx is exceptionally rare. In our case, psoriasis with psoriatic nails and enlarged distal digits without evidence of joint involvement led to the diagnosis of psoriatic onycho-pachydermo-periostitis, which is recogniz ..................More
Interstitial Granulomatous Dermatitis-A Case Report Associated with Rheumatoid Arthritis
Wen-Yu Chang, Gwo-Shing Chen
Dermatol Sinica 23:91-95,2005

Interstitial granulomatous dermatitis is a rare entity first described by Ackerman et al. in 1993. We described a 57 year-old female, with a long-standing history of rheumatoid arthritis, presenting with symmetric violaceous to erythematous indurated papules and nodules on her buttock and medial thighs arranging in an arciform fashion for more than three months. Pathologically it showed palisaded granulomas containing degenerated collagen, predominantly lymphohistiocytic infiltration with scatte ..................More

ABSTRACT Carcinoid tumors are primarily regarded as tumors of the appendix and small intestine, but they have been shown to arise from almost any tissue derived from the primitive gut, including its respiratory diverticulum. Cutaneous metastasis from carcinoid tumors is distinctly rare, and only a few cases have been documented. In this report, we present one case of laryngeal atypical carcinoid tumor with skin metastasis. The diagnosis of metastastic carcinoid to the skin was established by c ..................More

Abstract Familial benign chronic pemphigus, ( Hailey-Hailey disease HHD, OMIM 169600), first described by Hailey brothers,1 is an autosomal dominant inherited skin disorder characterized by recurrent blistering predominantly over neck, groin and axillary areas. Histopathologically, defects in cell-to-cell adhesion in suprabasal layers of the epidermis (acantholysis) are characterized. Mutation in ATP2C1, the gene encoding a novel P-type Ca2+ -transport ATPase, was recently found to cause ..................More

CASE REPORT This 56-year-old man visited our clinic presenting with a nodular lesion on the right nipple. The lesion was asymptomatic and evolved slowly in recent 3 years.
