A 25-year-old male patient noted pea-sized reddish and skin colored nodules developed on his face, back and extremities about 2 months ago. They were not pruritic or painful. Pathological examination revealed a well - demarcated mass in the dermis which consisted mainly of spindle - shaped histiocytes. Acid - fast stain showed abundant bacilli comformed to the spindle - shaped cells. This case was diagnosed as a histoid variety of lepromatous leprosy. A discussion of the histopathological findings and mechanism are included.
