To review the efficiency of chemotherapy on multibacillary Leprosy patients treated at the O.P.D. during the thirty years peroid from 1955 to 1987. The patients were divided into three groups. The dapsone monotherapy method was used to treat the first two groups who received their therapy between 1955 and 1981. The third group was treated by using the multidrug therapy from 1982 to 1987. The multidrug therapy group responded better than the two dapsone monotherapy groups after a period of three years.15 patients received dapsone monotherapy for at least one year, followed by multidrug therapy for another year. The decrease of Bacterial Index was found no significant between multidrug therapy and dapsone monotherapy. We are led to the conclusion that the multidrug therapy group of our outpatients had a better Bacterial Index reduction than dapson monotherapy groups.
