Neck Pigmentaion in Atopics
Shih-Yueh Chen, Horng-Tsann Chiou
Dermatol Sinica 8: 221-227, 1990

Five cases of atopics with pigmentation of the neck were obserbved. They manifested reticular, rippled, patchy, or irregular brown discoloration and involved the antero-lateral aspects of neck. Pathologically, hyperpigmentation of epidermal basal layer and melanin incontinence in upper dermis were the main findings. Neck pigmentation is one of the features of atopic dermatitis, especially in the adult atopics. The patients often come with such complaints because of cosmetic concerns, though eczema and lichenification are not always present. (Derm Sinica 1990; 8:221-227.)
