subcutanous fat Necrosis Associated with Pancreatitis

We report a case of subcutaneous fat necrosis associated with pancreatitis. A 46-year-old male presented with multiple erythematous painful subcutaneous nodules of lower extremities and painful swelling of both ankle joints for two months. Histopathology revealed focal fat necrosis and ghost-like cells with thick, shadowy walls and no nuclei. The serum amylase and lipase were markedly elevated. The patient developed acute developed acute abdominal pain for several times later and abdominal C-T scan revealed three pancreatic pseudocysts in the peritoneal cavity.
