Dermatol Sinica 15: 222-225, 1997

A 23-year-old female visited our OPD due to itchy reddish lesions and gross reticular pigmentation over the back for 2 years. According to the patient, the reddish eruptions disappeared leaving reticulate pigmentation without any treatment. However, new episode developed in the following, summer. Physical examination revealed multiple erythematous papules and brownish reticular, mottled pigmentaion symmetrically distributed on her back. Histologically, it is characterized by lichenoid infiltration with spongiosis, focal dyskeratosis, superficial perivascular mononuclear cell infiltration and pigment incontinence. We herein report a typical case of prurigo pigmentosa and review the literatures.
