We report a case of keratotic scabies caused by use of occlusive physical restraints. A 79-year-old female was admitted to our hospital with pneumonia. Her condition deteriorated, requiring long-term artificial ventilation. Because of confusion, restraints were required. One week after occlusive physical restraints were applied, gray scales and thick crusts were found on the left wrist and hand that had been covered by the restraints. Microscopic examination of scrapings from those scales showed the presence of Sarcoptes mites and a diagnosis of keratotic scabies was confirmed.
