Osteogenic melanoma is a rare variant of malignant melanoma. We report a case of metastasized melanoma with osteoid formation in a 78-year-old man. This patient had palpable left inguinal lymph nodes along with blackish macules over the left sole when he visited our hospital. However, lymph node dissection was not accepted by the patient until six months after the left sole lesion had been widely excised and proved to be malignant melanoma. The histology of the excised left inguinal lymph nodes showed features of melanoma metastasis with focal osteoid formation. The patient died of pulmonary metastasis of malignant melanoma 15 months after lymph node dissection.
